District 19 By-Election Delayed

Ordinary Polling Day has been postponed yet again until Wednesday, February 7, 2024.


Road and weather conditions have not improved enough to conduct a safe by-election in District 19. It is a rural district with many secondary roads electors would need to travel to get to the polls.


Tim Garrity, CEO of Elections PEI says “this is a very important by-election and Elections PEI wants to ensure all eligible electors in District 19 have the equal opportunity to exercise their right to vote. It has been decided the by-election will now take place on Wednesday February 7, 2024.” Garrity further explains “the safety of all electors and all of our election workers is paramount and we want this by-election to end on a positive note.”
Ordinary Polling Day the District 19 By-Election will now take place on Wednesday February 7, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters unsure of their voting information or location should visit the Elections PEI website at www.electionspei.ca .
Elections PEI will display the unofficial results of the 2024 District 19 By-Election on the Elections PEI website, on the Wednesday evening; Ordinary Polling Day, following the ballot count, which should commence by 7:30 p.m.
